Made in 2025-2026. Prototaxites is an extinct genus of large organisms dating from the Late Silurian until the Late Devonianperiods over 400 million years ago. Prototaxites formed large trunk-like structures up to 1 metre wide and reaching 8 metres in height, making it by far the largest land-dwelling organism of its time. Scientists have long debated whether it was a fungus or a plant, but it is now believed that it was a completely new type of life form.
