Whale fall. 2025. This is an Askgravplats (Ash gravesite) for Sankt Lars cemetery in Eksjö. The steel frame of this grave monument is over 6 meters long and weighs about 1.5 tons, Making it by far the biggest art piece I have ever built. As can be seen the space in the middle is full of plants, And in the spaces on either side of it there is gravel with rows of small gravestones under which urns with the ashes of the deceased will then be placed and their names e.s.t will be inscribed in the stones. The brutalistic design is inspired by the fasinating fenonemen of Whale falls! When large whales die, they often sink to the ocean floor, which creates a unique deep-sea ecosystem that can sustain various organisms for decades in an otherwise very inhospitable environment. A fantastic example of how death is not the end but gives life to other organisms and stages of matter. With is the amazing way this universe works in with we live!
